HARVEST FESTIVAL AND FAREWELL SOCIAL.

A harvest festival and farewell social to the Rev. W. Wills, pastor of the Methodist Church, was held in the Motueka Institute on Wednesday evening, when there was a large attendance. The chair was taken by Mr W. J. Moffatt and during the evening the following programme of music,, songs, and recitations was given, and very pleasant and enjoyable evening being spent:—Pianoforte solo, Miss Gilbert ; song. Miss K. Delany ; recitation, Mr W. Moffatt ; song, Miss Duncan ; Duet piano forte. Mesdames Symes and Andrews ; Duet,./7/essrs J. W. King and F. Wilkes; song, Miss M. Delany (encored) ; recitation Mr O'Donnell (encored) ; duet, Misses Simpson (encored) ; pianoforte solo, MrN. Williams ; company song (Maoris and Pakehas), Messrs Petiha, Katene, Wilkes,. Misses Delany (2), Mrs Paaka. When about half way through the programme the chairman alluded to the departure of the Rev. W. Wills, and also to his approaching marriage and referred to the high esteem in which he was held by his congregation and also the public and concluded by presenting him on behalf of the congregation with a set of silver tea spoons and sugar tongs, at the same time wishing him long life, happiness, and prosperity. Appreciative addresses were also delivered by Rev. Thomas Johnston, Messrs Harris, Alexander, and Gilbert. Mr Wills, who was warmly applauded, expressed thanks for the gift and for the kindness shewn him dnring his residence in Motueka. Refreshments were then handed round, after which the programme was completed, and the work ot disposing of the fruits of the earth carried out.
