MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
Very little interest was taken in the Motueka Municipal elections, nominations for which closed at.noon on Saturday last. As we anticipated no racepayer was brought forward to oppose Mr J. S. Wratt for the position of Mayor, an indication that his services during the past year have given satisfaction, and we compliment the Mayor elect on the confidence reposed in him and in his administrative capabilities. Mr Wratfs sponsors were Messrs W. J. Moffatt and M. Simpson. Six Councillors were required, and the Returning Officer received six nomination papers, those of Messrs W. J. Moffatt ard J. B. Jordan, lodged at Mr Tarrant's private office being received too late. The following ratepayers have, therefore, been declared duly elected : R. W. H. Rankin, nominated by Wm. Ryder and C. Holyoake.
W- Ryder, nominated by F. W. Thorp and G-. Budden.
R. J. Trewavas, nominated bv W. Moffatt and C. J. Boyes. F. W. Thorp, nominated by W. Moffatt and M. Simpson.
J. Satherley, nominated by J. H. Rankin and J. A. Rankin.
M. Simpson, nominated b\* F. W. Thorp and W. Moffatt.
It will thus be seen that' five ot the members of the last Council and an exmember Mr Rankin, will carry on the municipal business for a period of two vears.
