It is estimated that the bees of the United Stutes produced during last year 7,000,000 dollars’ worth of honey and wax. Saxony, it is reported, has one of the best regulated systems of forestry in the world, the net profits from the forests amounting annually to over 2,000,000 dollars. Among its many products South Africa included the *‘sneezev- T ood” tree, which takes its name from the fact that one cannot cut it with a saw without sneezing, as the fine dust has exactly the effect of snuff .An American authority estimates that on the average an apple tree, twenty years old, should produce irom 25 to 40 bushels of fruit annually, a pear tree 15 years old from 20 to 30 bushels, and a peach tree four years old from four to ten bushels. A benighted rabbiter at Alexander (Otago) took refuge in a cave, wherein he discovered a magnificent pair of horns in good preservation and of surpassing elegance and beauty attached to the upper part of the skull of the animal to which they had belonged. No one here has been able to name the animal to which the horns belonged. The son of a Liverpool bone merchant, who says he has seen the horns and bones of every animal that entered Noah’s Ark, has failed to identify the relics. Evidently the horns belonged to an animaL extinct before the adventurous Maoris found New Zealand. The leeling is steadily gaining strength that these horns can be no other than the horns of the Ancient Dilemma so olten heard of in the past but never seen. A despatch from Indianapolis (U. S } says: —A special to the ‘Sentinel’ from Ehvood states that Mrs Charles Dubois,, a bride of but a few months, was found dead in her room with a bottle of carbolic acid lying at her side, and a notein which is stated her intention of taking her life. An autopsy was held and no poison was found in the stomach. The side of her head was crushed, apparently by the blow of a blunt instrument. The Coroner held an inquest, which led to the arrest of Charles Dubois, the husband of the dead woman, who is charged with murder. ; The Wesleyan Conference proposes t to fittingly commemorate Wesley’s bi- . | centenary on June 17th.
