MOTUEKA WHARF BOARD
The monthly meeting of the above Board was held yesterday afternoon,, all the members being present. Accounts sent in were passed for payment.
The following resolutions were passed :—That the letter from the Borough Council affirming the desirability of having an elective Wharf Board be held ever for consideration at the next meeting of the Board.
That the appointment of J. Williams by the wharfinger, to assist on the wharf at a salary of £2 per week, with one week's notice on either side to terminate the agreement, be confirmed. , That the assistant, when not specially engaged by the wharfinger off the wharf, be instructed to assist shippers in unloading or loading dravs, etc, subject always to the wharfingers'' orders.
That the Chairman be empowered to take legal advice as to whether the Board is compelled to give its employes a half holiday during the week ; and to obtain advice on any other matterin connection with the management of the wharf, or its employes. That the Chairman and Wharfinger prepare a scale of charges in connection with wharf and light dues which, it is estimated, wall bring in a revenue of at least £6O per year, and report to the next meeting. That the next meeting of the Board be held on April .6th at 2 p.m. This concluded the business.
