MOTUEKA WHARF BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Motueka Wharf Board was held yesterday, all the members being present. Tne minutes having been adopted, the following aeco'unts wers passed for payment : W. Akersten LI 5 -7s 3d, A. Robertson LI 8s 6d, A. Miller L 4 14s lOd, Knapp L 4 3s, Colonist 12s, Buxton and Co L2 10s fid, Cresswell and Holdaway L 42 8s 6d, Marine Department 7s Bd, F. G. Moflatt 15s 3d, 11. L. Moflatt LI 2, H. Burnard Lfi ss, A* Burnard L 4 18s, Anchor Co, L3O 13s 9d.

The wharfinger reported that during the month just past the stores, house etc have been painted. The dredging has been attended to during the period, After this month, February, I do not purpose doing anything further with the dredge (unless something unforseen happens) for the next three months and -will take the opportunity of repairing and strengthening the punt, when suitable labor is available. The amount of revenue received for wharfage, storage and weighing amounted to L4B -8s 4d ; amonnt paid into bank LSO 14s.

Resolved, on the motion of Mr Beuke, seconded by Mr Everett, that the wharfinger be authorised to secure the services of an extra hand for the wharf at a salary of L2 per week ; to report, at next meeting. Resolved on the motion of Mr Everett, That the secretary communicate with the Audit Department with reference to the auditing of the Board’s accounts.

Mr Everett moved, seconded by Mr Beuke, That as soon as the additional hand is secured for the wharf half rates be charged on returned empties, the minimum charge to be |threepence! In speaking of the motion Mr Everett said complaints were made that a number of empties had gone astray and that in the interests both, of the Board: 'and shippers a small chaf-ge should be made to ensure safe delivery. The chairman tabled the following notice of motion for consideration at the next meeting of the Board : That at its next meeting the Board deliberate on its financial position and review the question of salaries paid to its ememployes, with a view to the readiustment of r the same.

It having been agreed to hold its next sitting on the 9th of March, the Board adjourned.
