UPPER MOUTERE.

(Own Correspondent ) Owirgto'the absence of some of the members during the holiday season, there was no meeting of the Upper Moutere Road Board held in December.

The recent showery weather has greatly improved the appearance of the district, and in many places the yield ot grain will be better than it has been for some years. The hop crop will be late, for it is the usual thing to see the vines in flower at new year, whereas this time there is very little sign of the burr. The Christmas and New Year holidays passed quietly, though there were a good number of visitors in the Moutere ; former residents who came over to see. jthe old home and friends. Two large picnice were held on Boxing Day and New Year's Day in Mr Drammond's bush, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all, and proved a great success.

On Monday, 29th December, we were favored with a visit from Messrs Cooper and Macdermott with their biograph entertainment. The hall was fairly well filled, and all were unanimous in the opinion that it was " the best show that has ever been here." We can strongly recommend our llotueka friends to go and see for themselves, for they will not be disappointed. The series of living pic ures representing " Our Army and Navy" were given with clearness and excellent effect, being both amusing and instructive. The large number of humourous and trick films were greatly enjoyed. The collosophone selections were really good, and added much to the success of the entertainment. It is rarely that so good a show is seen in country districts, and all who can should take the opportunity to see it for themselves ; they will find no deception, but a good thing. The whole performance is ably managed and conducted, and well worth the price of admission. So if the youngsters like a treat, take them to the Biograph.
