The united Church choirs, who are practising the cantata “Esther,” are making satisfactory progress with the music of that charming, tuneful work. The object of the entertainment to he to the public is the purchase of music aud books to be used iu St. Thomas’ and the Methodist churches during the services ; a laudable step to take on the part of the members of the respective choirs and we trust their efforts will he rewarded by a record house on the night, or nights, of the rendering of “Esther.”. The Biblical story of Esther is well worth perusal in view of the entertainment and the idea has been suggested that it would not be in opportune for the local ministers of religion to give church goers some discourses from the book in th e 01 d Testaineiit. Sir J. G. Ward says he agrees with the suggestion of M r R. McKenz'e that any employer wishing to insure his employees should be able to do so at any money order post office. He intentls to make inquiries if this can be done. An accident occurred last week at the Upper Moutere, which resulted in Mr W- Mytton, of Pokoror >, dislocating his shoulder. It appears that Mr and Mrs Mytton were driving along the road and in trying to pass another vehicle collided with a telegraph post, smashing a shaft of the trap, and throwing both occupants out on to the road. Mr Mytton was injured as stated above, but Mrs Mytton was uninjured, receiving only some slight scratches.
