The Wellington Post says :—Following up the enthusiastic speech which he made on'the night of his installation in the interest of the Aged and Indigent Masons’ Fund, the Grand Master of New Zealand Freemasonry (Most Worshipful Brother H. J. W 7 illiams) has set on foot, with the eo-operation of the Board of General Purposes, a movement to raise the fund to such an amount as shall render it operative, as a Masonic memorial of the Coronation year. An appeal has been njade to the Lodges of the colony, and through them to the individual members, for subscriptions in aid of the fund, and has been taken up right heartily. In one of the city lodges last week---the first that has had the matter before it —a sum of £22 was subscribed by a small meeting, and a committee was ,-et .up to wait personally upon absent members and bespeak their support. No doubt this enthusiasm is typical of the reception the proposal will receive all through the colony. It is hoped to realise a sufficient sum to permit ot the Grand Lodge making a commencement in the direction of establishing cottage homes for aged and indigent members of the craft, but the details of the scheme must necessarily depend largely upon the amount raised and the prospects of future support. A Central Committee, consisting of the Grand Master, the President of the Board of General Purposes, the Grand Registrar and Grand Secretary, has been appointed with power to act, and will consider any proposals that may be submitted.
