The- following are current prices paid •fco farmers, f.0.b., Lyttelton, and free of commission, except where otherwise specified : Wheat : Hunter’s, Pearl and Tuscan, 3s 9gd to 3s lOd at country stations. \ Oats.—Long feed, 2s 3d ; short feed oats, 2s 3d to 2s 4d ; milling Canadians 2s 6d at country stations. Barley (new) —3s to 3s 6d at country stations. Peas : Partridge, 3s to 3s 6d ; Blue Prussians 5s 6d to 5s 9d at country sta- , tions. Beans —3s to 3s 3d, at country stations. Flour (millers’ quotations): Roller £lO 10s. Pollard : £5 10s ton. Bran : <£4 10s. Oatmeal: .£ls f.o.b. Oatsheaf chaff : 80s at country stations. Onions : £3 10s at country stations. Potatoes : Beauty of Hebron £4; kidneys for forward delivery, 80s to 85s, and derwents £2 12s 6d at country stations. Grass Seed —Ryegrass, prime heavy town dressed 4s 3d to 4s 6d, cocksfoot 3|d to 3fd, ryegrass, Italian, town dressed 4s 6d. Dairy Produce; Cheese, factory 4id to sd, dairy 4d to 4|d ; butter, factory local, Is Id, North Island Is, dairy lOd, salt (in boxes)’ 9d ; bacon, hams, 6d to 7d ; factory bacon and hams, 4d higher, fo.b. STOCK SALES. Christchurch, June 25. At Addington 207 fat cattle were yarded. Useful sorts were very firm. Best steers, £9 10s to £ll 2s 6d ; others, £7 2s 6d to £8 10s; heifers, £5 15s to £7 17s 6d ; cows, £4 10s, £7 ss, £8 5s and £9 17s 6d for extra heavy. Very little busines was|done in store oi dairy cattle. Fat sheep —Only 3500, mostly ewes, with a few good lines of freezing wethers. There was a most irregular market, but one the whole, last week’s rates were about maintained. Heavy wethers, 18s to 19s; freezers, 15s 9d to 17s 9d, including one line of 600 at 17s 6d ; freezing ewes, 9s 6d to 15s ; extra heavy, 16s to 18s ; inferior, down to 7s 9d. Fat lambs—3oo, mostly taken for export at 10s and 12s 8d ; inferior 7s 9d to 9s. Store sheep—2soo, nearly all wethers and lambs. There was a very poor sale, and many passed. Backward wethers, 8s to 8s 6d ; better, 10s, 10s 3d to 12s 4d. Nearly 1000 were withdrawn at 9s 9d and 11s 2d. No ewes were sold. Lambs, 6s 7d to 7s 9d. "Pigs—-About 400, mostly secondary sorts, met weak demand, causing the market to become easier. Baconers, 36s to 46s 6d, equal to 3|d and 3fd per lb ; porkers, 18s to 30 ; stores, 8s to 16* . suckers and weaners, 3s 3d to 7S ’ Dunedin, June 25. At Burnside 100 fatfcattle were yarded prices ruling at 5s to 10s higher. Best bullocks, L 9 17s 6d to Lll 15s ; medium L 8 5s to L 9 2s 6d ; light, L 7 to L 8 2s 6d ; best cows and heifers, L 6 10s to 1-8 7s 6d ; medium, L 5 5s to L 6 7s 6d. gj jee p___l73l. Prices showed a drop of about Is a head. Best wethers, 16s to 17s 3d ; medium, 14s to 15s 9 1 : best ewes, 15s 3d ; others, 11s 6d to 13s 4d. Lambs- — 124, these selling at 9s to 10s 9d for best, and 7s to 8s 6d for men i tun quality. Pigs-- The demand for all sorts
was brisk, and prices unchanged. Suckers, 5s 6d ta 9s ; slips, lls to 16s ; stores, 22s to 29s ; porkers, 33s to 39s 6d.
Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co (in' conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams), report that at their sale at Johnsonville, near Wellington, on Friday last as follows : —We had ah average yarding of cattle, which, with the exception of a few pens of good quality bullocks, were mostly unfinished sorts. Amy thing showing quality met with a ready sale. Beef made 235, unfinished 20s. We quote —Best bullocks, L 9 7s 6d to L 9 17s 6d and L 8 15s to L 9 5s ; others, L 7 10s to L 8 12s 6d and L7toL 77s 6d. A small yarding of sheep sold freely. Light wethers, 13s to 13s 7d ; medium wethers, 18s 9d ; ewes, 11s 9d. No pigs wefe yarded.
