Several Boers fled as he approached and one who remained told Yogan that Scheepers had' gone the night before. However, Yogan rushed into the house. A voice called from a dark room, “ It’s all right. lam here.” Yogan went in, tcre the blind fiom the window, and found Scheepers lying on the bed, very ill. He said, “ Don’t disturb me ! lam very sick. I want the ambulance.’ - Yogan went outside and called up the Hussars. Sergeant Yogan was recommended for the D.S.M., but received neither this distinction nor the L 250 that was offered for the capture of the Boer commandant.
