As the Springfield down train was approaching Kirwee the other afternoon it was noticed that a fine donkey was in the first truck next to the engine. A number of members of the Farmer's Union burst into laughter at the sight, one suggesting that it was the National Ass with his "horse cover" off, and another suggesting that "The member for Lyttelton was bringing his own ass with him for the purpose of practical illustratien."—Truth.
