RIWAKA ROAD BOARD.

The rsnal monthly meeting of the Board was held on the ist November. Present: Messrs Bate (chairman), Drummond, Cook, Fry, James, and Wool 1 ". '5 control of the wharves and fore shore; .Chief Health Officer, Wellington, forwarding copies of pamphlet on Enteric, or typhoid Fever, and asking the Board to distribute them; Town Clerk, Motueka, suggesting the advisability of the Waimea County Council and the Riwaka Road Board combining with them for the destruction of small birds ; Waimea County Council notifying payment of instalment of 1900-1 rate; Secretary Upper Moutere Road Board

re expenses in connection with the Board's conference; J. Hatch and'Co re poisoned wheat. ' ' ■■ -- -

The application of dayman from Mr W. Duncan for Riwaka end of the district was accepted, he being the only tenderer. The following resolutions were passed : That the accounts presented be paid, daymen at 6s per day ; that the daymen be employed to fix a pipe culvert in place of the" splash at present near D. Mickell's ; that the duties of ranger are to visit all the roads that are fenced on both sides from Shaggery roads to York's (foot of Takaka hills) and from jbanks of Motueka river to the hills at least twice a week, duties to v commence forthwith ; that the sum of 21s be forwarded to the Secretary of the Upper Moutere Road Board, being this Board's portion of expenses; that Mr Lowe's request be granted providing that the hurdles are placed where the Board approves of. Cheques were signed for .£32 3s od, and the lfteeting closed.
