RIWAKA FOOTBALL CLUB.

The annual ball in connection with , the Riwaka Football Club took place at the School on Friday evening last, and was an uaqualified success, a large number being present, including many from Motueka and outlying districts. The Committee Messrs Croucher, Bate and Fowler, together with the secretary, Mr Byrne, had been most assiduous in their efforts to provide an enjoyable evening and they have reason to be proud of the fact that their arrangements were the subject of much favorable comment. Dancing was indulged in with great spirit, there being about 30 couples on the floor at one time. The M.C. was Mr A. Croucher, and some excellent piano music was supplied by Mr R. Bate. During the intervals of dancing, songs were contributed by Messrs Kir win, L. Budden, and J. Lovell, wlr'ch added not a little to the pleasure of the festivities. Refreshments, liberally supplied, were handed round by the ladies. Altogether, the evening passed off most smoothly and harmoniously; the time fled all too quickly and it was with pleasant memories the company bade each other "good night," or rather "good morning" as the- sky showed signs that daylight would soon Ire near at hand. The name of the "belle of the ball" has been supplied to us for publication but we refrain from giving it publicity, not wishing to rouse feelings of envy towards the favorite, or to incur illwill which the poor newspaperman has meted out to him in such matters,
