For some time past it has been known in Motueka that Mrs Dudley Salisbury, a daughter of Mr E. F. Burrell, of Ngatimcti has been seriously ill; so bad in fact that grave fears were entertained as to her condition and it was decided to call in I)r Gibbs, of Nelson £ > consult with Dr Deck. Mr R. Mcßae, owner of the thei - oughbred horse Loveshot, has decided to place this descendant of the mighty Musket at the service of liorse-breetlers in the Waimea and Motueka districts for the coming season. At the request of Motueka liorseowners Loveshot will he shown at Holyoake’s Motueka Hotel on Wednesday next, the 18th inst. Messrs C. Ivirk and Hyland, of Takaka, being unable to procure serviceable wagon horses for t-heii* purposes in their own territory, invaded this district during the pi esent week, and suceeded in a very short time in proem ing a splendid lot of animals, which have been takenaway. They were purchased from Messrs S. Wratt, Staples, Trewavas, and Edwards, and i effected great credit upon their breeders. This is another proof of the ability of our settlers to keep pace with the times in the rearing of good upstanding horses.

Mr and Mrs Burrell, of Ngatimoti wish to tender their best thanks to their many friends in Motueka, for their kindness in helping to nurse their daughter Mrs Dudly Salisbury, during her present serious illness, also to the general public, for their kind enquiries.

A curious freak of nature is to be seen at Kaiawa, sap’s the Dannevirke paper, viz., a dwarf cow standing only about 2ft 6in in height, and giving four gallons of good rich milk pier day. This strange phenomenon is the property of Mr Jacobs, settler, of Kaita wa. Damage to the amount of =£soo was done to Messrs Brownlee and Co s saw mill tramway hi dges in the Pelorus Valley by the finals that occurred a few days ago.
