Karakariki, Waipa May 20 1860. This is an account of the death of Wiremu Patene, a youth. He died at Karakariki on the 9th of May 1865 and was ttie fourth son of Wiremu Patene Native Minister Of that pace. He wasagoodman, and was educated at the Three Kings Institution under the Superintendence of (the Rev.) Mr. Reid in former years. He thoroughly mastered all his studios in the Insiiiuiion. In 1858 he was attacked by a fatal disease—consumption, and the Doctor.* said that he would noi live He was to be taken care of, and cod liver oil was to 1)6 givieu him. He was taken to Raglan this

year, but they could hot cure him. His death waspeaceful; his thoughts were bright, and- we were greatly rejoiced on account of his thoughts or sentiments. He was not old he lived but to years in this world. Let the name of Jehovah be praised.
