FENCING ACT.

Whereas it is desirable that some regulations should be established relative to Fencing, it is hereby enacted by the Runanga of Mangonui:— Ist. That no person shall be entitled to mover any damages sustained by the tres-

pass of Cattle; Horsos, ; Sheep, Pigs, &c, on -bis Cultivations, unless the same shall be substantially fended. 2ni. A substantial fence according to this Act shall be any one of the undermentioned, viz.: \. A stone wall not less than 4J feel high, with a cope stone, and not less than 2Vfeet breadth at bottom/ 2. A post and three rail fence of hard wood. 5. A post and two rail fence of hard wood, with a ditch 3 feet wide. 4. A white-thorn fence with a bank and brush 5 feet high, and ditch 3 feet wide; while-thorns planted not more than one fool apart. 5. A bank faced or topped with stone 5 feet high, and a ditch 3 feet wide. 6. A paling fence not less than 5 feel high. 7. A sod fence 5 feel high, and ditch 3 feet wide. 8. A- slake fence 6 feel high, 2 rails, stakes not less than 3 inches thick and tied with torotoro. 9. A horizontal slake fence, posts not less than 5 feet high and 3 inches thick firmly tied with torotoro. The Short Title of this Act shall be. the " District of Mangonui Fencing Act, 1862."
