Utakura, Dec. 26, 1853. O Friend Governor Grey,— Salutations. The news of your projected departure for England has been brought hither. We who are here are also loving you, because we claim you as our father. Through your influence the troubles of the land were eet at rest; anil the various operations that nre now being carricil out through the land have a beneficial tendency. The sentiments contained in your letter caused us to be joyful; these arc they,— " Obedienctto the laws of God will make you n great people, ami secure for you both peace and happiness."
