Rural Kalendar for December.
The Garden.—Plant a full crop of savoys for winter and autumn use ; transplant leeks; sow more turnips ; hoe and thin the crop of beet root of both kinds ; mark some of the best heads of cauliflowers for seed ; sou small salading- every week ; plant celery into trenches; may still sow spinach of the round leaved kind ; water every morning before sunrise, iii diy weather, all seed beds and newly planted articles. Continue to sow crops to come in after those sown last month; prune and train the summer shoots of all descriptions of fruit trees. Look for slugs and grubs, and destroy them ; immediately after a shower is the best time to find them. During this and the precceding month, allow no weeds to seed; one plant destroyed now, will be tbe means of saving much labour next month. Tiik Fieu>. —This is the month for Haymaking. Uarlh up potatoes, at the same time hoeing out weeds and clearing the ground of sorrel, dock and other injurious plants.
