The " Inflexiule" amongst the Chinese Pirates. —Pirates still abound in the Chinese waters. On the 30lh May, in consequence of information received by the assistant superintendent of police, 11. M. Steamer Inflexible, Captain Hoseiuou, was ordered to proceed to the Lemma Islands, where the pirates hud formed R settlement. The Inflexible reached Tanque Town (25 miles distant) at n few minutes before three p in. When within about musket shot of the shore three junks opened fir; which was instantly returned Irom the blip's guns, and three boats manned and armed under the command ol Lieutenant Gordon, the senior Lieutenant, were despatched to c.nry them by boarding. The junks kept up a fire fur about twenty minutes at the steamer, and also tit the boats, several shots passing over the steamer and boats, 'lhe junks were speedily taken possession of, and forty-five prisoners ci ptured; n great number, however, escaped to the shore, and disappeared over the hills. Several articles found on board the junks prove that these pirates had some hand in the murder of Lieutenant Orense, the Spanish agent, which took place sometime ago. A great number of sampans, crowded with people, made ell' on the approach of the Inflexible, getting up vaiimis small creeks. The place was evidently a nest of pirates. There was a Jos< house, which was riddled with the Inflexiblu'a shot, and a house on tin- point of a rock wns knocked to atoms by a single shot. The Inflexible returned to Hong-Kong at half pan 11 o'clock at night with the prisoners and six junks in tow. Several of the pirates must have been destroyed bv the ship's fire, particularly one party on a hill, among whom a shower of grape hliol wjs pitched. Some of the piratical junks were filled with oil; and various articles oi" Euro" pean manufactures were found onboard. The three jmks that fired mounted 20 guns, besides gingalb ; some of the former were 32pounders. A grat number of musket", ■»l>ears, nnl 200 s«'ords were found on board. Six of the Inll-iililo's piisoncrs were identified by the survivors of the crews and passengers of a Chinetu junk they had captured. On the captuie of the junk gnat atrocities were commiutd -men, women, and children were stabbed and ihiown overlioarJ. 'I h ; six have li'eii committed for trial before the Admiralty Court, as also three others taken on the soul It side of this island, and Menlifhd as having belonscd to the gang. On board lhe prize junks weie found part of the property of Lieutenant Orense, murdered at the entrance to this hurbour two months ago; also various articles of merchandise belonging to Hong Kong shopkeepers, robbed in the saute locality on their passage to Canton.
