The annual Presbyterian socials faavi been postponed till Friday, 2nd November, at Naseby, and Monday, sth atnanfaxly.
The casualty lists lately have brought painful news to several familita in the district. Many old friends will sincerely regret the death of Second Lieutenant Jonn M'Lean, of Hyde (the result of pneumonia, we understand), and the wounding of Captain S. Greer, of Patearoa. Ronald George, of Naseby, ani James W. D. Brown, of Kyeburn Diggings, are two more of the gallant youths who have been wounded for the Empire's Bake. The death too of Lieut. Garneross finds an echo io Naseby, as be is a brother of Mrs Beecby. An old resident of the district named George Scott died at the hospital on Friday, aged 68. The "funeral took place on Saturday. Labour Day on Monday was observed as a close holiday in the town.
