Naseby Borough Council.
The monthly meeting on Monday evening was attended by His Worship the Mayor (Mr Fraser), Crs Marslin, Ball and Parker. The minutes were read and «onfirmed on the motion of Crs Parker and Ball. The outward correspondence was formal. The inward referred to several small local matters, and the letter from the Green Island Borough Council relating to the war bonus to civil servants, the text of which was published last week in the County Council's report. —The usual motion receiving and approving the correspondence was passed on the motion of Crs Marslin and Parker. A request by the Rev. W. T. Drake for improvements to the crossing over the gutter to his paddock, Derwentstreet, was left to the Works Committee, as also was a request by Mr E. Brown for improvements to Nessstreet. An application by Mrs A. Brown for a license for a billiard saloon in Levenstreet was granted at the same fee as previously. M. Francis applied for a rebate in the hall charges for the recent patriotic concert, and on the motion of Crs Marslin and .Parker,a rebate of the amount (£1) was granted. On the motion of Crs Ball and Marslin, accounts amounting to i £36 9s 9d were passed for payment. The question of gravelling Derwentstreet was discussed, and it was left to the Works Committee to inquire into the cost. Cr Marslin moved, Cr Parker seconded, and it was carried—That a petrol street lamp be purchased (cost £2) if they are suitable, and the matter be left in Cr Ball's hands.
