Obituary.
Mrs John M'Gratb, one of Naseby's old identities, passed away at her rssidence last Friday morning, at the rip© old age of 73. The deceased Ifcdy was born at . Kildare, Ireland, on February Bth, 1845, and in 1864 she made her passage to N.Z. in a cargo ship called the Thracion, a vessel that ma-1e only one trip to the colony, bringing seven or eight passengers as well. The voyage occupied six months. She came to Naseby in 1866. and in December, 1868, was married to Mr John M'Gratb. They had a family of eight, of whom two boys and three girls ar« living, all now grown up, and her husband also is alive to mourn her loss. Durine ber long life in the town Mrs M'Gratb was a'ways very spected for quiet, unassuming and upright character. '■ ' The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon and tha Rev. Father M'Mullan conducted the service in the presence of a large crowd of friends and sympathisers, a good many rssi ; dents from the. country as well as of the town being present.
