PET DOGS AND BALDNESS.
From Loudon conies a warning to women who have pet clogs. Since the start of the war many English women have found that they were loosing their hair. A West End hairdresser, observing that he had more eases of falling hair in the last year than ever before, regarded worry and grief as the causes, but a physician advances another theory. " This explanation is partly correct." says- this physician. '" The" depressing effect on vitality of fear, anxiety, and sorrow reacts with serious consequences on the hair. Rut in my opinion the epidemic, if there is an epidemic, is to be traced mainly to infection from dogs. Every hair expert knows that in nine out of ten cases the premature loss of hair is due to dandruff. That condition often results from the pressure of microbes whose great source is the dog. Ordinary cleansing with soap or shampoo preparations is of practically mi use, but simple antiseptics, such as boric ointment, usually brings about a speedy cure. As a preventive measure dispense with the dog."
