The Courts.

(Before R. J. Acbeson, Esq., S.M and Warden.) POLICE COURT. V had Box Mullocb was charged by the Maniototo County Council with hawking in the county without a license. Mi* Fraser appeared for the plaintiff. Louie. Kennedy gave evidence that on 31st July defendant called at Mr Coram's with his van and sold her goods that had not previously been ordered. * Hugh Wilson, county clerk, deposed that defendant was not the holder of a hawker's license, and he produced the license book and a copy of the bylaws. ; Wm. Milce, county ranger, had spoken to defendant, who said he had no license and did not intend to taKe one out. Waipiata was in the county.

Fined 5s and costs' —me witness (Louiß Kennedy) 15s, (the county officials did not claim expenses), cviurt costs 19s 6d, and solicitor's fe3 £1 Is.

WARDEN'S COURT.

The applications of George Byers and Honor Balkim! for residence sites at were withdrawn on the application of Mr Fraser. T. C. Hore (Mr Fraser), surrender mining privileges.—Accspt'ed. T. Healey, application to pmsprct for coal. On the application of Mr Fraser an adjournment was granted til; 14th September. In tl.e Magistrate's Court cno civil case was called but struck out, their ; being no appearance of the parties.

The only business down for bearing at the court at Patearoa on Tuesday was a suit between Margaret Clunis Kennedy and P. M'Atamney. The parties were interested in a water race, and owing to disagreements defendant stopped the water from flowing through his land on to plaintiff's land. Mr D. Reid, jun., for plaintiff, Mr Fraser for defendant. The Magistrate decided this waa a case that should be settled amicably between the parties concerned, and after viewing the ground suggested that they divide the wafrr before it enters either property and that plaintiff takes her wat t by a race along the roadline. This was agreed to. At St. Bathans on Wednesday one civil case was beard —John Werner v. N. Nicoison: Ckim, £lO 16s on a judgmmt summons. After hearing the evidence of defendant, the Magistrate declined to make an order.
