Presbyterian Ladies' Guild.

Ths annual sale of work in connection with the Ladies' Guild of the Presbyterian Church was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Friday, the Bth of June, and was well patronised, resulting in a return of £6l 15s sd, gross takings.

A few willing workers, assisted by Messrs Arthur Ball, McLareD, Creighton, and Moore, were on the scene at an early hour, and Boon had the »talls and tables in order, and the sale opened for the business of the day. The drapery stall, presided over by Mesdames. Stuart (representing Mrs H. Wilson), Falconer, and W. Smith occupied the largest space, and displayed the finished goods, the work of the Guild for the year. Quick and ready sales were effected, the stall being almost depleted by closing time. The produce stall, presided over by Mrs H. Moore, displayed various samples of prime Maniotoco mutton, fruit and vegetables, which soon found ready buyers at satisfactory prises. Mrs C. was in charge of the fancy goods stall and disposed of d'oyles, mats, nand bags, beada, etc., to those whose taste lies in that direction.

Mrs J. McLaren, in charge of the sweets and flower stall, was the centre of attraction for the little ones, and they kept her busy dispensing pennyworths of lollies until her stock in tirade was fairly exhausted. Mesdames J. Dawson and J. Whitehead supplied the needs of the innsr man by presiding at the tea tables, and were very well satisfied with their takings at the close of the sale.

Shooting and guessing competitions and nail driving for ladies were the principal attractions during the evening, and provided a fair amount of amusement as well as pleasure for ihe lucky prize winners. In comparison with "former yaars tbe sale was a great success, and the Guild members desire to thank all those who helped with gifts of produce, etc., or by their presence and patronage to the suczess of the sale.
