TELEGRAMS.
. (Prom our own correspondent.) _ Dunedin, Thursday Afternoon. The mails via San Francisco were delivered to-day. Subscriptions to the Indian Famine Belie? Fund are coming in we 11... An application was made In Chambers to summonjthe editor of the 'Jurist 1 for contempt in commenting on the Court's decision re Chalmers v. Clarke, but the Judge said that propel notice by motion must be given PARLIAMENTARY. Sir George Grey's party met at, noon yesterday, twenty-five members being present. Sir G. Grey and Messrs. Macandrew, Stout, and Reader Wood were appointed a Committee to confer with the the Committee of Moderates. The joint Committee will meet this afternoon.. The names of the new Go vernment will probably be submitted to the Governor to-morrow. Although many names are spoken of, nothing is yet settled. Failing Sir George Grey as Premier, who, it is said, refuses to take office, there is a probability of Sir W. Fitzherbert being invited to take that positiou; It is understood that, on certain conditions, he will accept. This is all that lias yet been done towards the for-" matiou of a new Ministry. The- Hon. J. T. Peacock has been lesummoned to the Legislative Council. (From our Wellington correspondent.) No Ministry is yet formed. Mr. Larnaclrhas so far failed, and the party have now decided to entrust the task to Sir George Grey. Against this some extreme Moderates take exception. It is pretty certain that a Jlinistry will be formed, and it may last the session, but it will have to be re-organised next year. Tho House meets to-morrow evening.
