DEATH BY DEOWjN t ING. . We regret to record the death bv drowning on Friday 7th inst., of Sir. John Ryan a weL. known in IsTaseby, St. Bathans' and other portions of the district. It appears that the deceased rode from Tinkers on the evening mentioned, and was on his way to Blacks The Manuherikia river was 4. time, and it was supposed at hrst that on acconnt of the exertions made by the horse to reach the opposite bank the saddle girths had given way, thus preeipitainng the rider suddenly and unexpectedly into the current. Air. Lee, who was in _ neighborhood, witnessed the occurrence and made several ineffectual attempts to rescue him. The deceased resided for several years at JNaseby and St. Bathans, at both of which places he has relations. To those as well as .0 others, by whom he was deservedlv respected, his untimely death will be sad news.
