Tins Court had stood over from last month, in consequence of there being no quorum. Tho following applications were dealt with: —J. Deem, Two I! i vers Hotel; W. Cwmpboll, Waiheruo Hotel; Jnines Morrison, 'Coal Creek Hotel; John England, Pigroot llotc-l; E. Donaldson, Macraes Hotel; George Coekerell, United Kingdom Hotel. The above were all. grintcd general licenses. Mr. John Eggera was granted ft bottle lioensa for his store at Micraes.

RJJSIDBNT MAOISTRATS'S Cotfkf. (Betort tt. W. Eobiioson, Esq.. R.M., and Jte^rt. Humphreys, Pogaoa, and Kitchoner, J.P.'b.) Deem v. Coekerell.—A demand for £25 for trespass upon a certain paddock at Macraes; and removing the crop therefrom. Mr. Fraser for defendant. Mr. Deem gave evidence himself, "and called witnesses to prove that the paddock in question had been fenced and occupied by him some years since; that subsequently he had arranged for Mr. Coek-erell-to take a crop out of the land, giving him a certain proportion of the produce. Mr. Cockerel! had cultivated and obtained a crop, but hef (Deem) had never been able to get his share or the value of it. Tbis was two years-ago. Since then the ground had not befen cultivated, but a self-grown ?crop had been obtained by Coekerell. Finding he could get nothing out of Coekerell, Mr. Deem had given him notice not to interfere further with the land, but Coekerell had persisted in taking a second self-grown crop this last season, and. converting it to his own use. Tt was for this last taking after hotico that the present suit was brought. Mr. Fraser submitted that the plaintiff had shown no possession of the land to entitle him to maintain trespass. The Bench agreed, and recorded a nonsuit.

A slaughtering license was granted to Alfred TJpsdale.
