District Lodoes : Ark of Safety Lodge, Pfaflcby, mceta every Monday night; Hope of Bt. Uathans Lodge, St. Bsithana, raeots ovory alternate Saturday night; Minerva Lodge, BlackHtone Kill, meets every alternate Wednesday night; Anchor of Safety Lodge, Hamilton, meet. 1 * every Saturday night; Kyoburn Hope Lodge, Kyeburn, meets every Saturday night; Barque of Safety Lodge, Juvenile Templars, Naseby, moots every Monday night before tho meeting of Subordinate Lodge.

The second anniversary of the Minerva Lodge, Blackstono Hill, was celebrated in tho schoolroom there on Monday evening last by a concert and tea. There was a very large attendance of both members and non-members, a few mustering from Naseby and the reefs. The pretty little schoolroom was just barely able to accommodate all. Social gatherings do not take place often in Hill's Creek, but when they do everyone turns out. The chair was taken by Mr. Wm. Wade, and a long programme was gone through. The singing was very good indeed on the whole, and the recitations and readings were equally good. After the programme was gone through tea was provided, and then the School Committee, to further add to the amusement of the evening, announced that they had made provision for a dance, A concertina was set going, and soon all were busy dancing. About 5 a.m. tin party broke up, everyone agreeing that a very pleasant evening had been spent. We notice by the returns published in tho ' Temperance Times' that the Ark of Safety Lodge, Naseby, has the largest number of members (156) of any country Lodge in the South Island, the only Lodges throughout the whole Island exceeding it in numbers being, the Pioneer of Dunedin (273), All Nations, PortChaU mers (278), Loyal Nelson (220), and Pioneer, Greymouth (173). Thero are 155 Lodges altogether, 144 of which have sent in returns, the average membership of these 144 Lodges being 52. The returns for tho other Lodges in this district are— St. Bathans, 54; Blackstone Hill, 40; Hamilton, 17; Kyeburn, 19—total number returned for the district, 286,
