MAEREWHENUA.-Feb. 21
"Wabd-en's Cofet
(Before H. "W. Robinson, Esq., "Warden.) Application Special Claim.—This was an application t>y J. Prater for twelve acres of ground between Bushy Creek and Pringle's Gully, and the west side of Maerewhenua Eirer. Mr. Frater appeared to support the application, and Henry Howe and Eobert Slorach appeared as objectors. The objections <vere — first, that it would be against the interests of the miners to have any larger claims granted than an acre per man ; and, secondly, that the area now applied for would take in all the leading spurs, and all the outlets. After bearing both sides at considerable length, the Warden decided to recommend the grant of a special claim of six acres, at the western end of the area applied for, upon the conditions that it be surveyed at expense of applicant, and that not less than two miners' rights be held to represent the ground, and that it be fairly wrought during the term of grant, which was to be for ten years, with a proviso for renewal for a further period in case the conditions were complied with, and the ground was still in part unwrougnt. Grants.—P. Reid, S. Bullen, J.Bullen,' extended claims; Neale and Roberts, tail race. .<
