(From our own correspondent.) Dimedin, Friday, 8 p,m: Regatta today great success Young Colonist -won the Champion Four oared Kaire, with Rowing Club's Isis Becond. Mason's Royal Alfred carried off' first honors in Champion Sailing Race. The day was observed asa close holiday in town. The Otago boys made hot shooting at HoHtika to-day. The citizens banquet to the Governor at Hokitika was an immense success. Button, in proposing the of the Governor's Responsible Advisers, said he was satisfied that in no part of New Zealand were the people more generally satislied with the Ministry of the day than in Westland. At Kumara there will be a characteristic miners' procession. Great regret is felt at Downes' inability to play against the English cricketers. CABLEGRAMS. Sydney Feb, 23. Owing to the serious defeat of the Government on the question of obtaining supplies, it is understood that a dissolution of the Assembly will take place shortly.
