A lodge of the Independent Order of Good Templars was opened at the Upper kyeburn. Diggings on Tuesday evening last, sth inst by Bro W H Ash, DDGWCT, assisted by Bros Donaldson, J Baxter, Hevs J M Cosh Smith and J Hobbs, Uunn, E T George, jr. G Alexander, J J Wilson, and S Baxter of the Ark of -aftty Lodge Aaseby Eleven members were initiated! the fo.lowmg being the officers elected, the remaining offices to be filled at next meeting: —LI), Bro Leadbetter; v\CT. fro BeerWV f, Sister Beer ; W.« and WFS Bro Ferguson ; WT, .Sister Blanchaid; W'G Bro tfeer, jr. The Lodge was m. m d the Eyeburn Hq e—Saturday being nxed as the night of .meeting. Votes of thanks were passed to the instituting office-, Bro the Kev J M. Cosh Smith, and to the visiting members. In responding the members or the new lodge w ere assured of the pleasure ftlt by thoie present at assisting-lo open a newlodge, and of the ultimate succesa with which *h*ir effort* were sure to be crowned,'-
