NOTES FROM ST. BATHANS.
A lecture in aid of the library fund was delivered by Mr. Warden Eobinson, on, Tuesday evening last, in the schoolroom, to a very fair audience, which, would probably have teen much larger but for the generally accepted idea that, in strict keeping with the subject, " Schools and Scholars," the lecture would be but a dry, prosy recital, and interesting only to thosa immediately concerned. This, however, was not the case, as the worthy lecturer treated the subject in sach a manner as to render it highly instructive and amusing. This latter element was greatly aug menled by the introduction of a number of humorous extracts, to which the lecturer did ample justice, more particularly the "treacleing scene" from N ictleby,' whiefe was provocative of much amusement. A good number of lsdies and gentlemen assembled on the evening of the Queen's Birthday to enjoy a few hours' diversion on the "ligiit "fantastic," and, as there was n good band in attendance, and the management i.j the hands of Mr, John Cormick, time passed pleasantly enough till far into the wee hours.
