The Oamaru Presbyterian Church, which has been recently erected at a cost of about £4,300, was opened for public worship on Sunday last. £BS was collected after the services towards the building fund. Tenders for the Naseby Court House are to be sent to Wellington on Monday, 28th inst. In cases where telegraphic tenders are sent the detail tender must be forwarded to the District Engineer by this day's (Friday's) mail. The Goldfields Secretary is expected at Naseby on Saturday morning. It is Tinderstood that Mr. L. W Busch and Mr. Shannon have been invited to meet him, as representing the miners and citizens, to consider the mode of management likely to be the most effective on the completed portions of the Public Works. The Kev. J. M'Oosh Smith on Sunday last intimated, by wish of the Church Committee, that £6O had been received in response to the special effort made to pay off the debt on the Church at the New Year. In all it was expected that about £BO would be collected. The Church may now be said to be nearly clear. As, however, the population is reduced in numbers, the Committee will have to manage very well to keep the maintenance expenses for the current year within the receipts. The Council meeting last night lapsed-for wanb of a quorum, there only being present —his Worship the Mayor, and Crs. Broakes and Craig.
