Invefcargill, was won by the latter by six points. The Colonial prize firing is fixed for the 24th inst. Otago competitors leave Port Chalmers on the 19th. At Wellington last night a public meeting was held to take steps to give Vogel a reception on his return. The reception will takb the form of the presentation of an illuminated address and a public dinner. \ The Timaru railway was opened to-day. Otago's extra representatives at the Colonial firing are G oldie, Port Chaimersj Adams, Waikari; Capstiek, Bruce; Smith* No. 1; Hutchison, .North Dunedin.
