BORROWED BOOKS.

(To theSditor of tht Motisi Ida CjmoitZGijt.) - "Sri;—A few years ffgo.'wlfen the" Ber. Mr. Burchett was in Nasebjj and eater* tiimnents were given pretty frequently in of one thing or. another, including leadings and recitations, six large v&lumeg -were purchased from Mr. L. W. Buseh, being a set called Carpenter's series of Penay readings. At the time the boots were freely used, and my own guarantee givea for their payment was quickly redeemed bv -public money. The books were not destroyed, and would, if forthcoming, be Tery valuable at present to the public, to whom they belong. I can see no reason why those who have charge of tie books should not place them in the hanis of the Athenseum Committee. Perhaps they will kindlyconsent to do so now the suggestion is made. Five of the volume were bound in half-calf, and the re- , maiaderin boards, the 1 cost of the set being about £5.-1 am, &c., E. Hobswexx.
