FIRE AT KYEBURN DIGGINGS.
On the 30tk ult. the store and hotel of Mr., "Walter Morgan, of Kyeburn Diggings, were totally destroyed by fire. At the time the fire broke out, between three and four p.m., no one was known to be on "the gronnd. Mrs. Morgan and child were at Clark's Diggings. Mr. Morgan was working at the coalpit. The first to discover tho fire was a Mrs. Veal, who lived nearly opposite. She went and told Mrs. Cain, but no man was about. Presently a man of the name of Swan, who was working down the creek, attracted by the smoke, came up. Almost immediately after Messrs. Morgan and 'Hewitt came down from where they were working. Nothing whatever could be done to save the bnildings. With the as- • Stance of' Messrs. Marshall and Christian', who were passing, the stable ' , was 1 saved, and also a sewing machine from the house —but 'every effort to break into the body of the hotel was useless. ' Thp fire appeared to break from the store and centre of the building, but nothing is known. An inquest is to be held on the ground this day (Friday). The building and stook are insured for £SOO.
