ARROW DISTRICT MINERS' ASSOCIATION.

The usual monthly meeting of theabdve body was held on the Ist and, in spite of the unfavorable weather,. every member of Committee attended. The correspondence comprised a letter from Mr. D. MacKellar. Secretary for - Goldfields, stating that Mr. Beethant would soon return to resume his duties a» Resident Magistrate and Warden, and that Mr. Stratford would be also re-in-stated in that office as soon as relieved byMr. Robinson.

A letter from the Central Executivewas also received (accompanied by twentycopies of' Proceedings of the Clyde Conference '), stating that £7O had already been expended, and mating a call of £5 on the local Association. It was agreed that, as soon as the weather permitted, a subscription list be circulated to collect that sum, and also members' subscriptionsdue. —[The statement of liabilities incurred by the late and present Central Executive, for six months ending June 30th, will be published in the ' Southern Mercury' next week. It will be seen that the sum is not so much as thought by the Arrow Committee.—Ed. M.I.C.] After the disposal of business of merely local import, a general discussion ensued,, reviewing the fate of the late Goldmining Bill. General dissatisfaction was expressed that, in framing the Bill, the labors of the Mining Conferences werenot taken into consideration, and the meeting expressed strong feelings of doubt of ever obtaining a workable measureEassed by the General Assembly, except y the assistance of the miners themselves ; and suggested Mining Boards as proper modes to furnish that assistance. The meeting was of opinion that if a prepared Bill was submitted to the minersfor their approval, it would not attain the desired end, because it would be next to impossible to consider all the objection* and suggestions that would be created bysuch a mode of procedure.
