MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Council was held on Tuesday last to elect a Chairman to act during the absence of the Mayor. Present—Crs. Brookes, Craig, Hjorring, Wilson, and de Lautour.
Cr. Hjorring was voted to the chair, and the Town Clerk directed as to the payment of the remitted license.fees.
The regular meeting of Wednesday evening was adjourned; till Thursday— no quorumbeing present. Councillors present were—Crs. Hjorring, Craig, and Brookes. The adjourned meeting was held on Thursday. There were present—Crs. Hjorringr "Brookes, Craig, Inder, and de , Lautonr. ' ... C(^BESPOi^DE^J"CE. —INWABD : A letter was read from Mr. A. G-. B. resigning his position as Secretary and Gearman to the Fire Brigade, on account of his having to leave the district, —[Resignation accepted.—Hesolved that the Captain-be-requested to recommend a suitable officer , for the position; Letter from" Homeward Bound Company, asking for extension of time in making. good the road by. the schoolhouse owing to the dry weather having delayed their operations.—-Leave granted during 'pleasure. FISANCE.
