MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
The adjourned meeting of the Municipal Council was held at the Council Chambers on Monday evening last. Present—His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Inder, Brookes, and Hjorring. The minutes of the previous meetingswere read and confirmed. ASSESSMENT EOE THE ENSUING TEAS. The Town Clerk laid upon the table the assessment-book, which was received and recorded, by which it appeared that the value of property in the West Ward was estimated at. £1602; East Ward, £1457; Southward, £1098; total, £4153. FINANCE. The Committee recommended the following accounts for payment, which were, on the motion, of. Cr. Hjoebing, ordered to be paid:—Wm. Jacob, progress payment Town Hall, £SO; E. T. G-eorge, rent of offices, £l7; ' Evening Star,' £1; Water Works Company, £118s.; Mossman, Wm., lamp-lighting and labor, £4 4s. 6d.
