CORRESPONDENCE.

(To ike Editor of the Mount Ida. Chronicle.) JS'aseby, May Bth, 1874. Sib, —In your.issue of this day I perceive "Digger" is having a dig at me. If I am right in my conjecture as to ihe writer I cannot complain, as I am the only tradesman that has escaped heretofore, I believe. My punishment comes through your paper, with a wide circulation—the - others through paper that will not circulate. ./ • - " Digger " is a prospector as well,. and lately struck good gold in Dunedin; but,_ alas ! the claim was worked out when tho rush took place; so no one but "himself" benefitted by it. He has since then visited Clyde, and somehow got appointed mana--ger of a claim previously held by Millar,, of the Arrow. 'Very likely the claim waa not properly marlced,. although it is believed it was beinsi profitably worked:." The Company should have left well alone*, as I take leave to doubt any good resultsfrom.the present management. However, the shareholders are numerous and wideawake, and may, at an early date, mate a. re-appointment. Perhaps it was in view of this that our "Digger" was .recentlyprospecting about the Court House., It ■ turned out a dead failure. Lastly, he has a dig at me. I wish him more profitable; employment, as I doubt if he can work me to profit.-?-! am, &c, . '•John Bhemneb.
