■ John Kay was brought up in custody, charged with deserting his child without lawful excuse. —On the application of the police, the hearing- of the charge was adjourned till Monday, 23rd inst., bail being allowed in one surety of £25, and the defendant £25. Monday, February 28hd. David Drysdale v. John Kay.—Child desertion. Ordered to pay £2O ss. (for maintenance of child) forthwith to complainant, and £1 expenses of witnesses. Febhuaey 25th. - - (Before L. W. Busch, Esq., J.P.) Alexander M'Hardy, charged with being drunk and disorderly, was fined 10s., or twenty-four'hours. Febbuary 26th. (Before H. A. Stratford, Esq., E M.) The following cases were struck out for non.-appearance : Margaret Morgan v. John Swan, assault; Margaret Morgan v.John Swan, indecent language; John Fccles v. John Kay, debt of £4 35.; Michael Brookes v. John Kay, £3 12s. 6d.; Jtobert Grlenn v. John Kay, £6 ss. The applications of Thomas Vickery and Mary George for slaughtering licenses were granted." Also an application for the temporary transfer of the license of the Pigroot Hotel to John 'Frceland.
