John Gill v. M. S. Duffy.—AssaultMr. Rowlatt for informant. The evidence went to show that defendant had struck informant in the Royal Mail Hotel. Soon afterwards informant went to his own dwelling, and retired to rest. The defendant then,, at a later hour, hurst open the door, and seized him by the throat, as" he lay in bed. Thomas Duffy, brother of the defendant, interfered to { prevent further mischief. Mr. Rowlatt explained that his client did not push for any penalty, but that all he wished was for the defendant to be bound over to keep the peace. The defendant was accordingly bound, himself, and two sureties to keep the peace-, for three months. v? William Price t. William Annett. f Debt, £l7 4s. 2d. Mr. Rowlatt for defendant. This was a case involving accounts of a very confused kind. Judgment was given for £lO 9s. 2d., with 24s'. costs, to be paid by-instalments ing over three months. \ ~ Contempt of Coutt—William' Price and William Annett, 'parties- in the last cape, were brought up-at the rising* of the Court, charged with contempt. The fact 9 of the case were as follows : When

the evidence had been concluded, land the Magistrate was about to record judgment, the parties, who were standing very near together, exchanged some remarks, when suddenly Mr. Price exclaimed in a loud voice, " You're a liar." Before the constable who was in attendance could interfere, the two men had their fists raised in the act of exchanging blows. They were fined 40s. each, or, in default, three days' imprisonmentr'Fines were paid. "
