Commodore G-oodenough has been sworn in "as a'member of the Executive Council. ■ The 'Star' regrets to have to state that the; George street fire has had a fatal termination. Mr. Schmidt, who, it will be recollected, was severely burned in rescuing ,his wife, andfhas been in the Hospital ever since, died in.that institution at 6 p. m. yesterday. He was in good spirits 'during the day, so much so that in conversing with friends he expressed his belief'that he was recoveringrapidly. Shortly before five o'clock, however, -he went .intoi convulsions, and became so frantic that the ;wardejs had great;difficulty in keeping him, from tearing his fatce.
