HAMILTON.
(To the Editor of the Mount Ida Chronicle.) August 25th, 1873. . - Sie, —It were to be wished that your j correspondent, who wrote to you on a late I Occasion —so kindly filling up the gapj caused by the silence of "your own"—! had been a little more explicit in his firsts attempt at writing to a public journal. I; trust you and your numerous readers will; kindly overlook his little shortcomings.; When he again whites to you, as he has! kindly promised, it is to be hoped he will; not forget to tell you of his own health,; and, out of courtesy, hope you, Mr. Editor, and your whole staff are enjoying that blessing. Many here are anxious to know who it is that is making £lO per week. I have no doubt, in his next letter, your correspondent will be able to satisfy their curiosity, and point out the locality—for many settled here would be glad to try their luck in the same ground, and, moreover, will consider your correspondent a real benefactor to the Hamilton district. Perhaps, too, as dinners and suppers appear the rage, they would be glad to give him a supper, or something better. When giving such a glowing account of the supper given ,by the Perseverence Company, he has been guilty of unpardonable neglect in not saying who the gentlemen were who delivered the speeches, and what the subjects were- —the general prospects of the country, the great works at Naseby, or was the theme the plucky undertaking at Hamilton ? Not being one of the guests, I long to hear. I hope, in the future letter promised, these omissions will be supplied.—l am, &c. A Hamilton Minee.
