TELEGRAPH EXTENSION.

. TV « have strong hopes that the very necessary telegraph extension to the Dunsl-an will be carried out. -If not, it will not be the fault of 'our- worthy Mayor, who has exerted hiniself strongly in the matter. On the 20th August he received the following telegram from his Honor the Superintendent :

Macandrew to Corporation. I think Government will extend line via Ophir. If Provincial Government offer to guarantee interest on outlay. -

The Mayor at once telegraphed to Clyde to secure co-operation, and received the following telegram : The Mayor, Clyde, to the Mayor, Naseby: Telegraph Oliver press Executive guarantee interest. Let Macandrew know. Hazlett, M.P.C., telegraphs privately to Turn-' bull. Pyke here, has seen your telegram.

The Mayor of Naseby consequently sent the following telegrams : Mayor, Naseby, to R. Oliver, Esq., M.P.C.: _ Mount Ida and Clyde anxious that you should press Provincial Executive to guarantee interest on outlay for telegraph extension. Macandrew telegraphed me General Government likely to construct on such terms.

Corporation, Naseby, to Macandrew, M. H. R., Wellington*: Clyde and Mount Ida urging Provincial Executive fulfill their promise given in Council, to advocate by all means telegraph extension. No risk to Province guaranteeing interest. Indebted to you for exertion.
