Upside nt Magtstkate's Covrt: (Bsfors H. W.-Robinson, E..M.) .Breach of Licencing Ordinance 1 :—Michael Augustus Collins was charged with a breach of the Licensing Ordinance. The facts of the case were that the defendant and one Angus Mackay had. a* sort of booth at.the- racecourse neat* Hvde, on the occasion of some sports on the 17tk March (St. Pat ick's Day)'.' It was proved thnt the defendant had served a glass of port< r, and the Court inflicted a fine, but in consideration of some extenuating cirumstanct's.- and the h»av'v costs, the fine "was made small. Fined £3 165., with l&s. 6d. osts, and 89s. expenses. AngiH Mackay was charged with a similar offence. —ft was proved in this case thnt a person had paid-for a sandwich, and had been supplied wirh a glass of porter as well. Fined £3 'lOs., with costs 15 •-. and 3Ds. expenses. With reference to these two cases, the Maufis'r ite remarked that .lie had not desired to deal more harshly with them, than he had done wiiha-case of, the same, nature at.his last sitting at Macraes ; that lie now gave warning that the like leniency must not be expected in thc,.furure. Slaughtering License.—B. O'lSTeil applied for Slaughtering L : c-orisb ! fdrliis premises. Granted for the slaughter of srnair'cattle or\\y. Warden's Court. (Bsforo H. W. Ilobin3on, Esq., Warden.) The only, business before the Warden, with the exception of a number of transfers, was the application of O'Neii and others for a water race, which was granted.
