ATHENÆUM MEETING.

On Friday evening last, a public meeting took place to receive the resignation of the Athenaeum Committee, and to appoint a new one to take over the finished work, and initiate a scheme of management. On the motion of Me Busch, seconded by Me E. C. Smith, it was resolved " That no gentleman who was not present should be eligible for nomination as a member of the new Committee." • An amendment was put by Me Jackson, seconded' by Me de Lautoue and lost " That any gentleman nominated, whether in the room or not, should be eligible for election." A Committee of eight were then chosen by ballot, out of twelve nominated. The; names were Messrs J. S. ivi'lntosh, J. Brown, L. W. Busch, JY Cooper, D. Pipe, G. F. Newmarch, E. C. Smith, and E. T.
