WASTE LANDS BOARD.

A meeting of the Board was held last week. Tliere were present tlie Chief Commissioner, and Messrs. Strode, Tolmie, Clark, and Butterworth The application of Sir P. D. Bell, under sections 65 to 72 of the Act, to construct a dam and water race on runs 109 and 255, through his own leasehold and the property of "Mr. B. Luks. The Board consented to a survey, and the taking of levels in the first place. A letter from Sir F. D. Bell, relative to the occupation by miners of the block in Shag Yalley he had applied to have sold, but which was not acceded to, was read. The matter was referred to the Government, to learn if the Superintendent will give his consent to the withdrawal of the land applied for being withdrawn from sale. The report of Warden Carew was read on the letter of Mr. Turner, Hills- Creek, relative to his occupation of part of that town. Mr. Carew recommended that the applicant be allowed valuation. The recommendation was declined. The report of Warden .Robinson, on the desirability of offering for sale part of the township of Hamilton, was read. The report recommended that the allotments occupied be surveyed and sold. The Government was recommended to have the township surveyed. Mr. G. P. Beid applied to have Mr. Cunningham's section in Hamilton put. up for sale. Eecohimended for survey. Mr. Begg, for the Hon. R. Campbell, applied to have the plans of bis application for land in. the Maerewhenua district approved, and Mr. Campbell declared the purchaser. Mr. Stout, on behalf of certain miners in the district, applied for an adjournment. The matter was accordingly adjourned for "a week.
