seconded—"That Crs. Brookes and "Wilson be requested to negotiate -with the managers of the Temperance Hall, as to the terms on which they would be prepared to make over the building and furniture to the Corporation, and also to enquire as to the power of the Society to part with their building and reserved site. To reporb at next meetina:." Carried. MOTTO FOB SEAL. ' I . b was also resolved that the selection of design and motto for the Corporation Seal be left to the Mayor and Cr. Wilson. . The special meeting then closed. An extraordinary meeting was held later in the day, to consider urgent business. The full Council were again present. ' VALUATOLiS. After some discussion, the Town Clerk was instructed to request Mr. E. C. Smith and Mr. Morrison to act as Valuators, at a fee of £3 3s. ROADS. On the motion of Cr. de La.utouk. seconded by Cr. Brookes, and carried, tlie Town Clerk was instructed to write to the Secretary of Land and Works, asking the Government to form the main roads through the Municipality at once, especially Levou-street. ' There wa3 some discussion raised by Cr. Wilson", who wished to also particularise Derwent-street,- but the mover carried his point, urging that Leven-street required the first attention, as, if the street north and south was made and clearly defined, parties would build on it and its cross sections in a uniform manner. PLAN OF TOWN. The Town Clerk was also instructed to write to the authorised District Surveyor, requesting him to furnish, at his earliest convenience, a mounted tracing, showing all the streets, sections, Wards, reserves, and Crown lands within the boundaries of the Municipality.
